Another medical marijuana dispensary coming to Monroe County

(WXXI News & AP) New York State has authorized five more organizations to manufacture and dispense medical marijuana to improve patient access to dispensing facilities across the state.

One of those additional dispensaries, run by New York City-based Fiorello Pharmaceuticals, will be located in Monroe County. The company says it will be in the Rochester area, in a building with other medical offices, but they have not yet released details on the exact location.

Fiorello Pharmaceuticals expects to have its dispensary operating in the Rochester area in the first quarter of 2018.

The companies approved by the NYS Health Department join five other organizations operating since the medical marijuana program's launch in January 2016.

One of those companies already operating is Columbia Care, which has operations at the Eastman Business Park.

Citiva Medical and Valley Agriceuticals will manufacture in Orange County. Fiorello Pharmaceuticals will manufacture in Schenectady County. New York Canna will manufacture in Onondaga County, and PalliaTech NY will manufacture in Ulster County. They will have dispensing facilities in 14 counties across the state.

The Department of Health says there are now more than 25,000 certified patients and over 1,000 registered practitioners in the program.
