Accident Knocks Out Power To Thousands In Greece

TWC News

Rochester Gas and Electric worked to restore power to thousands of Greece residents after a crash early Sunday morning.

Greece Police say at about 2:40 a.m. an 18 year old female driver fell asleep while driving, left the roadway, and struck a utility pole near 760 Long Pond Rd.

The woman was not injured but was taken to the hospital as a  precaution. Police say drugs or alcohol were not a factor and no arrest was made.

The crash knocked out power to more than 5,000 customers in the area north of Latta Road to south of Vintage Lane.

The woman was taken to a local hospital for minor injuries. Long Pond Road in that area was closed for a while due to repairs.

As of 7am, RG&E listed nearly 5,400 customers without power. By 9am nearly all customers were back on line.
