Livingston County authorities say that the 21 year old woman with special needs who was last seen Monday night has been found.
Sheriff Thomas Dougherty tweeted on Thursday evening that “Starr has been located. She is alive and being treated for dehydration and malnutrition.”
Authorities were contacted Thursday night by the family who said Smith walked in from the garage, which is attached to the house.
Deputies, police dogs and family members had previously searched the house and the densely-packed adjoining garage. It is not clear yet if Smith had been there the entire time. Smith told her parents that she was sleeping and had just woken up.
There has been a massive search for Starrlita Smith after she was last seen leaving her home on Perry Road in Leicester. Authorities have said that Smith functions on the level of someone who is 6 to 12 years old.
Dozens of volunteers and law enforcement have been focusing on an area surrounding the Genesee Valley Greenway Trail near Mount Morris.
