A section of Lake Avenue in Charlotte is expected to be shut down “ well into Sunday morning” according to Rochester Police because of a homicide investigation.
RPD says it responded to the 4000 block of Lake Ave. at Beach Avenue at about 1:00 a.m. Sunday for a report of shots fired. When officers got there, they found a 23 year old man lying in the road, who had been shot in the upper body. He was pronounced dead at the scene. He has been identified as Shaquan McMillan of Rochester.
Police believe the man was shot in the parking lot at 4791 Lake Ave. and then he ran out onto Beach Ave. where he collapsed.
Due to the investigation, police shut down a portion of Lake Avenue at Corrigan Street, and also Estes Street between Corrigan St. and Beach Ave. Authorities say that effectively shuts down the entire block southwest of Lake Avenue at Beach Ave on Sunday morning.
