Greece Officer Fired After His Arrest

A Greece Police Officer has been fired after he was arrested by his own department on charges of stalking and harassment.

Authorities say they arrested 33 year old John Fogarty after an investigation into a domestic situation. Police say the person filing the complaint previously had an intimate relationship with Fogarty

Fogarty was released until his next court appearance and a temporary order of protection was issued for the victim. Fogarty was also ordered to turn over all of his personally owned weapons as well as his police department issued weapons.

Officials say based on information obtained during the investigation, the decision was made by Town Supervisor Bill Reilich to immediately terminate Fogarty’s employment with the Greece Police Department.
