Crews from RG&E, National Grid and NYSEG were busy throughout Western NY, the Finger Lakes and Central NY early today dealing with the aftermath of thunderstorms.
A spokesman for RG&E, Dan Hucko, says at one point, about 9,300 of their customers were without electricity just before 7 a.m. 8,000 of those were in the Canandaigua area, with a tree down on a primary wire causing a lot of the problems in that region.
There were reports of branches, trees and powerlines down throughout the area. RG&E expects to have everyone back on line by 11 a.m.
There was also a report of a barn fire in Avon related to the lightning.
