Webster Names New Police Chief

Webster has a new police chief. And it's a familiar name.  Joe Rieger, who is currently acting chief, has been named by town officials to get the job on a permanent basis.

Rieger has been a Webster Police Officer since 1989 rising through the ranks to Lieutenant in 2001, and named acting chief last December, to replace Gerald Pickering who retired. Pickering took a job as Deputy Director of Public Safety at the University of Rochester.

Rieger will be officially appointed chief at the Webster Town Board meeting on June 18.
