Unity and RGH Vote To Approve Merger

The boards of directors of Unity Health System and the Rochester General Health System have voted to approve an affiliation agreement.  The two hospital systems had announced last April that they had agreed to enter into discussions about a formal relationship.

With this new agreement, it will create a single parent company that will oversee direction of all of its affiliates.  The agreement stipulates an equal partnership between the two hospital systems.

Officials with the hospitals say that this will create an integrated health care system that can better meet the needs of the community.

Unity and RGHS will now move forward with regulatory filings at the state and federal level, and it should take six to 12 months to complete the process.
