Henrietta To Consider Purchase Of Fairgrounds Property

The Town of  Henrietta will look at the possibility of buying some or all of the Dome Arena facility and associated land. The property at East Henrietta and Calkins Roads is on the market again after a planned sale to the owner of the RazorSharks basketball team fell through.

Town Supervisor Jack Moore says it just makes sense to look at the possibility of acquiring the property since it sits next to the town hall complex.

"It is to me a natural for the town to be interested, 48 acres next door; if you're thinking about the next generation I think the town has to seriously look at banking the land for future development for town facilities."

Moore notes that the town is currently renting a courthouse facility and a recreation facility so Minett Hall on the fairgrounds property might be refurbished for those purposes.

Moore says there are still a lot of things to be done, including getting an appraisal, and checking out the renovation costs.
