Rochester's New Fire Chief & Interim Police Chief Sworn-In

Communications Bureau, City of Rochester, NY

In one of her first duties as Rochester Mayor, Lovely Warren on Wednesday presided at the swearing-in ceremony for Fire Chief John Schreiber and Interim Police Chief Michael Ciminelli.

Schreiber most recently served as City Fire Marshal.  Ciminelli most recently was Deputy Chief of Administration for the RPD.

At the request of the chiefs, the swearing-in was held before a small audience of friends and family in City Hall.

"Public safety is the most important function of government, and I am confident that Chief Schreiber and Interim Chief Ciminelli will lead their Departments in a manner that earns the respect and trust of the people of Rochester," said Mayor Warren. "I want to take this opportunity to thank these two men and all the men and women of the Rochester Fire and Police Departments for their commitment to protecting our citizens and visitors. I also want to thank the families of our police officers and firefighters for the sacrifices they endure to support loved ones in such challenging jobs."

Warren did not re-appoint former Fire Chief Sam Mitrano. She is still involved in the process to appoint a permanent police chief.
