Brooks: Airport Improvements and Safety Could be at Risk

Monroe County Executive Maggie Brooks is headed to Washington Tuesday to discuss her concerns with the move by Congress to alleviate air travel delays caused by sequestration.
She says legislation to end the furlough of air traffic controllers was passed at the expense of other airport projects, as Congress shifted money from the FAA's Airport Improvement Program.
Ten capital improvement projects representing 15-million dollars in investments, and 319 jobs are in jeopardy as a result.
She says Congress is also not addressing future problems that would occur should staffing end at Rochester's air traffic control tower overnight.
Brooks plans to meet with the local Congressional delegation about working out a solution to the funding problem.
