Some Express Concern about Marina Plans

Edgewater Resources/City of Rochester

Some Rochester area residents are worried about the parking and traffic issues that may arise from a marina being built at the Port of Rochester.

City council approved a new zoning plan this week that moves the $29 million project ahead.

Cathy Fox has lived in the Charlotte neighborhood for many years, and says she's not happy about project plans, "I feel it's been public domain for all these years, why change it? I mean I can't see what's wrong with it now you know, there's going to be more trouble, the traffic. If they take the parking away, then there's no where’s to park."

City councilmember Carla Palumbo says additional parking is being factored into the project.

The project includes condos and commercial and retail space. Construction could begin on the marina project this year, if all federal and state permits are obtained.
