Connections: Lessons from the ROC2Change Student Summit on Race

We sit down with students from across Monroe County to talk about the ROC2Change Student Summit on Race. The theme of this year's event was intersectionality.

Our guests share what they learned and how they hope to create a more equitable society. In studio:

  • Sonia Zand, senior at Brighton High School, and member of the Mosaic Club
  • Noli Belachew, senior at Brighton High School, member of the Mosaic Club, and officer of the Black Student Union
  • Malik Jaff, senior at School Without Walls Senior, and president of the Rochester City School District Student Leadership Congress
  • Maya Waller, sophomore at World of Inquiry
  • PJ Davis, senior at World of Inquiry
  • Steve LaMorte, social studies director at the Rochester City School District who works with the Student Leadership Congress and other student governments

Evan Dawson is the host of "Connections with Evan Dawson." He joined WXXI in January 2014 after working at 13WHAM-TV, where he served as morning news anchor. He was hired as a reporter for 13WHAM-TV in 2003 before being promoted to anchor in 2007.
Megan Mack is the executive producer of "Connections with Evan Dawson" and live/televised engagement programming.
