Connections: Unique Challenges for Women Veterans

We're looking at the unique challenges faced by women veterans. The Women's Veteran Initiative works within the greater Rochester community to "locate female veterans, identify their needs, advocate for resources, and develop strategies to meet those needs." We'll explore the impact, and we'll preview a film called Service: When Women Come Marching Home, showing at The Little Theatre Monday night, and hosted by WXXI and the Veterans Outreach Center. Our guests:

  • Todd Baxter,  executive director of the Veterans Outreach Center.
  • Patricia Marks, retired judge and chair of the Women's Veterans Outreach Initiative
  • Alicia Thompson, program specialist who appears in the film that will be screened at The Little on Monday evening

WXXI is helping to connect military and veteran needs with community resources through our Veterans Connections initiative.

Evan Dawson is the host of "Connections with Evan Dawson." He joined WXXI in January 2014 after working at 13WHAM-TV, where he served as morning news anchor. He was hired as a reporter for 13WHAM-TV in 2003 before being promoted to anchor in 2007.
