Connections: Homeless Plight in Western New York

A look at the homeless plight in western New York. It's the first of two interviews on this subject, and there are strongly divergent viewpoints. In December, we'll talk to the people behind Open Door Mission. Their concern is that some homeless people are being enabled without improving their troubles, such as alcoholism. Today's guests counter that these people are in crisis, especially now that the Civic Center garage is not an overnight option. With us to discuss this:

  • Arend Kingsland, member of the homeless community
  • Sister Grace Miller, House of Mercy
  • Harry Murray, sociology professor at Nazareth College
  • Cheri Honkala, social activist
