Wegmans and Tops not requiring masks if you're vaccinated

Two major supermarket chains in the Rochester area are easing their mask requirements in connection with guidelines from the Centers for Disesase Control and Prevention and New York state.

Wegmans says that at its stores in New York, fully vaccinated customers are no longer required to wear a face covering.  Wegmans has stores in 7 states, and masks are still being required in some other states.

Tops issued a statement this week that said face coverings are optional for people who are fully vaccinated.

Tops adds that unvaccinated individuals must continue to wear a face covering; that includes anyone age 2 and over and anyone medically able to tolerate a face covering. CDC and state guidance call for unvaccinated people to continue to wear masks in all public settings.

Neither Wegmans nor Tops will require shoppers to show proof of vaccination.
