Bishop To Ordain Priests Saturday

Bishop Salvatore Matano
Diocese of Rochester
Bishop Salvatore Matano

Catholic Diocese of Rochester Bishop Salvatore Matano will ordain three Deacons as priests in a service at Sacred Heart Cathedral Saturday.

The ceremony begins at 10:30 am for Deacons Michael Fowler, Matthew Jones and Carlos Sanchez. Bishop Emeritus Matthew Clark will concelebrate the mass along with many of the Diocese's 160 priests.

The ordination of a fourth Deacon, Daniel Ruiz was postponed, so he could be in Columbia to care for his mother, who, according to Diocesan spokesperson Doug Mangelaro, is gravely ill.

Ruiz will be ordained by the Bishop on his return.
