New Film Festival To Focus On The Environment
There's a new film festival coming to Rochester, and this one will focus on the environment. It's executive director, Dr. Andrew Stern, says the Fast Forward Film Festivalinvites amateur and professional filmmakers from around the region to submit short films of five minutes or less.
He says these films should involve the environment in some way.
“It doesn’t have to be directly but in some way they have to reference environmental concerns and hopefully, in truly new perspectives, ways that people respond with differently, than they would respond to data from climate scientists.”
Stern hopes that the film festival will help build a strong Rochester community around environmental issues. He also hopes that someday, these types of film festivals will be held around the country.
WXXI and The Little Theatre are among the sponsors of this festival. Films can be submitted beginning October 8th and running through February 27th. Final selections will be announced next April, and those films will be screened at The Little and Dryden theaters during Earth Week, on April 17th and 18th.
