New York Army National Guard officials say 125 members of the 152nd Engineer Co. of the 204th Engineer Battalion are now scheduled to depart Thursday morning from Niagara Falls. The departure was originally scheduled for Wednesday, but the base said there were problems being able to land in Puerto Rico.

The unit's heavy construction equipment has already been sent to the Caribbean island aboard a ship from New Jersey to help the U.S. Territory devastated by a Category 5 hurricane last month.

The New York Army National Guard currently has about 200 soldiers and in Puerto Rico, including 60 soldiers and 4 UH-60 helicopters assigned to the 3rd battalion 142nd Aviation conducting relief missions, 132 soldiers of the 442nd Military Police Co. conducting security missions on the island and 20 members of the New York Air National Guard assisting in air terminal operations and aircraft maintenance missions.
