BALDWINSVILLE (AP) Authorities say two men are missing after their kayaks overturned in the Seneca River in central New York.

The Onondaga County Sheriff's Office says the men were seen fishing off kayaks near a dam in the village of Baldwinsville at 11 a.m. Saturday.

The sheriff's office says the current was strong because of recent storms.

One of the kayaks bumped into the wall of the dam and capsized. The second kayaker paddled over and tried to help his companion but his kayak capsized as well.

Divers from the sheriff's office, the Syracuse Fire Department and other agencies searched for the men for several hours.

Authorities say it appears that neither man was wearing a life jacket.
