Winter makes a comeback after the big thaw

Look for some big changes in the weather from Friday into Saturday, starting with potential flooding in some spots and ending with mixed precipitation and eventually a lot of snow.

Winter will roar back to life this weekend.

There is a flood warning in effect until early Saturday morning in parts of Monroe County

The high on Friday started out in the upper 50s, but it will fall later in the day. News 8 Meteorologist Josh Nichols says Friday will see rain changing to freezing rain and sleet by sunset.

There is a Winter Storm Warning for counties including Monroe, Wayne, Livingston and Ontario from Friday afternoon through Saturday afternoon. Accumulations could total 8 to 12 inches by late Saturday, with over a foot of snow just northwest of Rochester.

And the bitter cold will continue with temperatures only in the teens from Saturday through Monday.
