President Donald Trump plans to make stops in the North Country and Mohawk Valley Monday, according to a number of reports. Rep. Elise Stefanik (R-Willsboro) announced Tuesday that Trump accepted her invitation to visit Fort Drum, and will hold a signing ceremony for the National Defense Authorization Act for FY 2019.

"I am proud of the partnership with this Administration to begin rebuilding our military and the President’s visit is an important opportunity to highlight this achievement and to thank our men and women in uniform for their service. I look forward to welcoming President Trump to Fort Drum and continuing to work to ensure our troops have the resources they need to keep us safe," Stefanik said in a statement.

After visiting Fort Drum, Trump reportedly will visit Utica, to attend a fundraiser for Rep. Claudia Tenney (R-New Hartford). WKTV reports that the event will be closed to the public and media.

Tenney is running for reelection against Democratic Assemblyman Anthony Brindisi.

The Utica Observer-Dispatch reports that if Trump visits Utica Monday, he would be the first sitting president to do so since Harry Truman in 1948.

Trump last visited the region in 2016 during the presidential campaign, holding rallies in Watertown, Rome and Syracuse.
