The Rochester School board is bringing back a couple of familiar names to lead the city school district on an interim basis, after Barbara Deane-Williams leaves in January.

The board has selected Dan Lowengard to be the interim superintendent and Linda Cimusz to be his Chief of Staff.

Lowengard had been chosen to be interim superintendent in January 2016 after Bolgen Vargas resigned. But four days later Lowwengard had a stroke. When he had to step down, Cimusz  took over as superintendent until Barbara Deane Williams was named to the post later that year.

School Board president Van White thinks that this is a good team to lead the district on an interim basis.

“The point here is, we’ve got two, wonderful experienced leaders in their own right, but on top of it, two experienced leaders, I call them the dynamic duo, who know a lot about our district already, so they will be able to hit the ground running," White told WXXI News.

White says the board now has selected a search firm and he expects they will be able to name a permanent superintendent by June.
