Rochester Police say pedestrian dies after being struck by car on Atlantic Ave.

Rochester Police say that a pedestrian died after being struck by a car early Monday morning. It happened at about 2:00 a.m. on Monday, near Atlantic and Coventry Avenues. Officers say a car was traveling east on Atlantic and struck an adult male.

That man, whose name has not been released yet, was pronounced dead at the scene.

The driver of the car, 27 year old Michael Roderigues of Irondequoit, was charged with DWI and police say additional charges are possible. He also suffered some minor abrasions.

RPD says a section of Atlantic Avenue between Coventry and Illinois will be shut down for a while Monday morning during the investigation.
