Rochester Chamber Unveils New Logo & Chairman

What has been called The Rochester Business Alliance in recent years is now called the Greater Rochester Chamber of Commerce, and along with that change, a new logo was unveiled on Wednesday, along with a new chairman of the board.

The former Greater Rochester Metro Chamber of Commerce merged with the Industrial Management Council to form the Rochester Business Alliance in 2003.

But recently officials said going back to the name Greater Rochester Chamber of Commerce helps the organization more clearly define its mission as an organization that offers advocacy and services to help businesses of all sizes.

On Wednesday, members of the Rochester Chamber elected Constellation Brands CEO Rob Sands as chairman of the board. Sands said that as a local business leaders, he knows the value of Rochester's talent, resources and collaborative partnerships. Sands succeeds Nazareth College Daan Braveman.

The new logo was designed by the ad firm, Dixon Schwabl, and officials say the vertical lines represent the Rochester skyline and also calls to mind the horizontal rows of Rochester's first businesses. The region's freshwater is represented by the rippling line of the river and streams and the placid line of the many lakes.
