Plant closing in Perinton to result in 61 layoffs

There’s word of a plant closing in the Fairport area.

A company called API Technologies, which provides microwave and microelectronics and security technologies has filed a notice with the NYS Labor Department that it will be closing a facility on Perinton Parkway, affecting 61 jobs.

The layoffs are to begin January 24 and be completed by February 7.  API is headquartered in Massachusetts and has operations all over the world.

The only reason for the closing given on the required State Labor Dept. filing was "economic."  Company officials could not be reached for comment on the closing in Perinton.
