The varsity football season for Geneseo High School is over.

A statement on the school district’s website says the remainder of the season will be forfeited after a number of players were dismissed from the football team.

The Livingston County News reports that police are investigating allegations that a Geneseo student and member of the district’s football team took Oxycontin pills from a parent without their knowledge and gave them to fellow team members prior to a game last Friday night.

According to the report, Geneseo Police are investigating but they have also called in the Livingston County Sheriff’s Department to assist.

The school district says that the Junior Varsity and Modified Football Teams will continue their seasons as planned.

The statement from the district says they are committed to upholding the highest standards of excellent in academic, extra-curricular and athletic programs and will continue to work with all of their student athletes to ensure their actions “represent the expectations of our district and our community.”
