A different home for every lifestyle is the vision for a new residential community being built in the Town of Brighton. It's called the Reserve, which includes 327 mixed housing styles on the Erie Canal between Westfall and Brighton-Henrietta Road.
The 65-arcre community includes loft condominiums, brownstones, town, single-family and patio homes. The development also includes a 12-hundred square foot clubhouse with a fitness center, wine cellar - for community residents only - and a restaurant.
Anthony Costello's real estate development company is heading the project. He says there's a demand for new housing in Brighton. And Costello adds more than 300 people who have expressed interest.
"The average home in Brighton is 69 years old," Costello says. "People want to live in Brighton because of its location, it's school district, because of its closeness."
Costello says his vision is build different homes for different lifestyles. Brighton Town Supervisor Bill Meohle says this is good news for the town.
"It's a great new mix of residential development. It's one of largest residential developments in Brighton in many, many, years. The location is perfect. We're very excited to finally see it break ground."
Canal improvements are also a part of the project, which the town received a $224,000 grant for. Costello is investing $1.2 million dollars to build a public boat dock, put up light posts and install public seating along the canal way.
Project planners anticipate the total project being completed between 5 to 7 years, but residents are expected to begin moving in this spring.
State and local dignitaries officially kicked off the project during a groundbreaking ceremony Thursday.
