Local Man Builds Downton Abbey Out Of Legos

http://youtu.be/bN_U0LYxWf0

A local fan of the show "Downton Abbey" got a real surprise on Christmas morning.

30-year old Sofia Tokar of Rochester has a one-of a kind replica of Highclere Castle and the cast of Downton Abbey made from specially designed Legos.

It was a gift from her boyfriend, 24-year old Eric Stevens. He said the whole project took him about 15 hours.  He designed the castle from Google Maps aerial photos, publicity photos and pictures on tourist blogs. He also found a website that had blueprints of the last major renovation of the castle in the early 20th century.

Stevens' Downton lego creation has even gotten some international attention.  It was featured in an on-line version of the British tabloid The Daily Mail, and in the New York Daily News.

He says he has no plans to mass-produce it, and says he won't even be able to watch the season premiere Sunday night on WXXI-TV.  Stevens has to work that night.

Beth Adams joined WXXI as host of Morning Edition in 2012 after a more than two-decade radio career. She was the longtime host of the WHAM Morning News in Rochester. Her career also took her from radio stations in Elmira, New York, to Miami, Florida.
