Roger DeGault says his limousines undergo a comprehensive inspection process every six months

As the federal and state investigation into Saturday’s limousine crash near Albany which killed 20 people continues, a local limo company owner agrees with Governor Cuomo’s assertion that the vehicle should not have been on the road.

Roger LeGault owns and operates LeGault Limousine in Rochester.

He says this was an example of the owner/operator not doing the right thing.

“We work so hard to make sure that everything is up to where it should be by New York State Inspection.  If it didn’t pass inspection, that vehicle should never have been on the road.  But you can’t stop somebody from not driving it,” he said.

LeGault says this incident will no doubt negatively impact the limousine business.

An attorney for the company whose limousine was involved in the crash says multiple safety violations on its vehicles were fixed before the tragedy, but he doesn't think the recent infractions against Prestige limousine service (the Saratoga County-based company) contributed to Saturday's deadly crash.

Authorities say the limo involved in the crash had failed its safety inspection just last month.
