Local Businessman, Community Servant Dies

Rochester area businessman and community servant Robert Hurlbut has died at the age of 77.

Mr. Hurlbut founded Hurlbut Care Communities in 1969.  He also held numerous positions in the community, serving on the Board of Directors of the Rochester Area Community Foundation, The Monroe County Long Term Care Program, Lifespan, and HSBC Bank.  

Mr. Hurlbut was also past Chairman of the Board of the Rochester Philharmonic Orchestra and the Rochester Chamber of Commerce.  He  served on the Board of Trustees of St. Mary's Hospital and Foundation, as well as Roberts Wesleyan College and St. John Fisher College.  Mr. Hurlbut is also remembered as a longtime supporter of WXXI.

Beth Adams joined WXXI as host of Morning Edition in 2012 after a more than two-decade radio career. She was the longtime host of the WHAM Morning News in Rochester. Her career also took her from radio stations in Elmira, New York, to Miami, Florida.
