Kodak may no longer be making digital cameras but the company has reached an agreement to lend its name to another company’s products.

A multi-year agreement will see the Kodak brand name on various digital cameras, pocket video cameras, and portable projectors made by JK Imaging.

Kodak announced they would be exiting the digital camera business in February last year, and at that time company officials said they would explore licensing opportunities for the brand.

Kodak spokesperson Krista Gleason says the deal has been in the works for several months, and it shows that despite the company’s financial troubles, the brand name still carries some weight.

“This is good news because it reinforces the strength and value of the Kodak brand worldwide, including in the consumer space.”

Gleason says this is a global agreement and JK Imaging plans to launch the first of its products in the second quarter of this year.

The terms of the agreement have not been disclosed.
