Eastman Business Park hopes to lure development to West Ridge site

provided

Now that the Kodak Center on West Ridge Road has been renovated, Eastman Business Park is looking to bring a restaurant, retail, and possible office space to a lot across the street.

Eastman Business Park president Dolores Kruchten said the 1.1 acre parcel is in a great location with potential customers within walking distance from the theater center and business park, and 35,000 to 40,000 vehicles passing by each day.

"We have people in (the business park) every single day and right now I have to go quite a distance for lunch meetings. There are business meetings that are going to take place, there's the entertainment that's happening, and then just the amount of traffic that goes by that location."

Eastman Business Park distributed a request for proposal to developers on Monday. Kruchten said they're hoping to select a project by February with the goal of an opening sometime in 2019.  The idea, she said, is to give people options if they want to plan a night out without having to drive to multiple locations.

"We think that there are a lot of interesting opportunities that can go there. Certainly, what we're looking for are food options, but there can be a lot of variety to that. We're going to be pretty open and see what ideas come in."

Long term goals include the development of other nearby parcels on West Ridge Road and Lake Avenue.
