First hour: Will Tesla come to Rochester?
Second hour: Young voters discuss "get out the vote" techniques
Will we see a Tesla service center and dealership in Rochester? Last month on this program, Dennis Wilmot of Wilmorite revealed that his company was in talks with Tesla to explore the possibility of opening a service center at Eastview Mall. He said if that project were to move forward, the area may also see a Tesla dealership. Wilmot said that current laws would make it difficult see that project come to fruition. This hour, we explore those laws and the potential impacts of bringing Tesla to Rochester. In studio:
- Brad McAreavy, president of the Rochester Automobile Dealers Association
- Roger Dube, Tesla owner, and co-founder of the Tesla Owners' Club of New York State
Then in our second hour, the turnout rate for young voters is typically far lower than overall turnout, with turnout for midterm elections having been particularly low. In 2014, for instance, census data shows that less than 20 percent of young people voted, compared to about 40 percent of the general population. What will we see tomorrow when voters head to the polls? This hour, we sit down with young people who are passionate about voting. They’ll discuss their tactics and recommendations for getting out the vote. In studio:
- Jamal Holtz, vice president of the Students’ Association at the University of Rochester
- Iman Abid, chapter director of the Genesee Valley Region of the ACLU
- Nick Nevinger, actor
- Audrey Sample, volunteer chapter lead for Students Demand Action Rochester
