Byrnes upsets Errigo in 133rd Assembly GOP primary

Two years ago, after the death of Bill Nojay, Joe Errigo was thrust into running for the 133rd Assembly District seat. He won, beating Democrat Barbara Baer.

Baer is running again. It's uncertain whether Errigo will still try to win on a 3rd party line.

Marjorie Byrnes, a former Rochester City Court Judge, and former Assistant District Attorney, defeated the incumbent Errigo on Thursday in the Republican primary for the 133rd District. She will now face Baer in November’s general election.

TheD&Cquotes Errigo as saying he hasn't decided yet whether he will try to continue his campaign in the general election in November on 3rd party lines he has secured.

Byrnes’ platform focused on what she called the lack of representation for the 133rd District in Albany. She also rallied against increased government spending and wants to improve school safety, and implement term limits for elected officials.

The 133rd District includes Livingston County along with parts of Monroe and Steuben counties.
