Authorities investigate online threat in the West Irondequoit School District

Irondequoit Police have made one arrest after a report of a threat made to the  West Irondequoit School District Tuesday morning.

According to the district’s spokeswoman, Carol Crumlish, a student at Rogers Middle School had an online conversation with someone who claimed to be a Webster resident.

That person allegedly made a bomb threat against Rogers, and an alert was sent out to parents in the district.

Rogers is attached to Southlawn Elementary School, and staff at the two schools were asked to wait in their cars until the building was cleared by authorities.

Irondequoit Police, the Monroe County Sheriff’s Department and school security staff were searching the building.

Shortly after 9:00 a.m., parents got a call that all was clear and students should report.  Irondequoit Police say a suspect has been arrested as a juvenile delinquent. They say the suspect was a student at the Rogers School and was charged with falsely reporting an incident. The case will be handled in Family Court.
