Rochester Police have charged two people with 2nd degree murder in connection with the death of a man whose body was found in May.

Authorities say on May 27,  police and firefighters were called to the pedestrian bridge in Genesee Valley Park near the tennis courts for the report of a person on fire. When they got there, they discovered the body of 35 year old David Jones of Rochester. Officials say he had been shot and then lit on fire.

On Thursday, police lodged the murder charges against Imani Williams and Syiesman Brown Jr., both of Rochester.

As a result of evidence found during a search warrant, Williams also faces charges related to illegal drug and weapon possession and endangering the welfare of a child.

Police say that Brown was released from Genesee County Jail on Monday after serving 30 days on a criminal impersonation conviction and a parole violation, and then was immediately taken into custody by Rochester and State Police.
